Program Information Message from the WNYRCFL Director

On behalf of the participating agencies that compose the WNYRCFL, we are pleased to announce that the laboratory is fully operational and ready to serve our law enforcement colleagues throughout Western New York. Building an RCFL from the ground up requires months of preparation and hard work. During this time, our Examiners successfully completed the FBI’s elite training program sponsored by the Computer Analysis Response Team (CART). CART certification is recognized throughout the digital forensics field as being one of the most prestigious and rigorous training programs available today. As a member of the national RCFL Program, not only do we have the most advanced high-tech equipment, but we also have highly qualified, FBI-certified personnel on staff to perform examinations, conduct training, and serve as technical advisors on matters involving digital evidence.

The WNYRCFL is a joint partnership between the FBI and state and local law enforcement agencies that are devoting their valuable time and resources to this important endeavor. The WNYRCFL's participating agencies include the Erie County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, ICE/Customs, U.S. Secret Service, New York State Attorney General's Office, and the Niagara Falls Police Department. Their commitment to strengthening law enforcement’s digital forensics capacity in our region has made the launching of the 12th FBI-sponsored RCFL possible.

The WNYRCFL is here to meet the Western New York law enforcement community’s digital forensics and training needs. We hope you take full advantage of this vital resource, and consider joining our team by becoming a participating agency.
